Harry Potter (Upcoming Max TV Series)

Anybody see the news about the upcoming Harry Potter series? I am currently appalled.

For Harry Potter I’ve had to do a bit of separating the creator from the creation. By necessity. But Rowling recently gave a quip to Entertainment Weekly so shocking, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to reread the books again, much less watch a TV show based on them.

Rowling’s anti-trans statements are bad enough. But before this I just saw it as a political disagreement. And this shows how insensitive I actually am that I saw it that way instead of how dangerous it really is. Rowling’s latest claim is that people tell her how much they agree with her and she claims what Harry is fighting against in the books is the same thing as the agenda of the people she’s talking trash about. See what she’s saying? She’s not just stating an unpopular opinion. She’s claiming her entire output was designed to be anti-trans this entire time. That is an escalation beyond anything I could have ever imagined. And it’s precisely why this kind of talk is so freaking dangerous.

Just to be clear, David Zaslav sought this partnership out. He WANTED new Harry Potter stuff. It amazes me the fantastic works of art he’s destroyed compared to this level of monstrousness he is giving a huge spotlight to. Worst Entertainment CEO in human history.
