Monsters At Work "Adorable Returns"
I am glad the series exists if only because the Adorable Snowman is finally unbanished.
And of COURSE it was unjust and Waternoose. Of COURSE.
But Tyler's behavior was not sitting right with me. Adorable clearly knew Mike and Sulley, so maybe Tyler should be trying to get them together, and clearing this up instead of hiding him. And once he learned the banishment was unjust, Tyler took his sweet time changing his mind and helping him. I loved the episode but I decided I don't like Tyler much.
I laughed at Mike's voice after he ate the snowcone.
Good for the show for recognizing the Monsters University continuity that Adorable used to work in the mailroom. Frankly, most of that movie is something I'd rather forget, but it's good that the show has its canon straight. And Adorable being the official Snowcone seller of Monsters Inc is a fitting end to him. Although I DO hope it isn't actually the end, and we'll still be seeing him regularly.
I had misgivings about the first episodes of the show, but if they had been like this I never would have complained. Although Tyler is a jerk, the episode was still great. 5 stars.
Monsters At Work "Little Monsters"
Those little monsters sure are cute. My favorites are the orange slug that rides the doors and the little pink girl with one eye.
Talia seems pretty sharp. The ending with her mom was pretty cool.
And of course there are production babies in the end credits.
I liked Mike's slow realization that he is in fact the goofball and that Sulley just let him prattle on until he realized it.
Good to see Adorable again.
Good episode. 4 stars.
Monsters At Work "Bad Hair Day"
Didn't dig it. Frankly, the story was a little TOO bizarre, which says something, considering the entire premise of the show.
It was also extremely predictable. I knew how it would go down and end two minutes in.
When Rose threatens to call security on Tyler, that was the correct reaction.
Sulley is not in the episode.
I liked the end credits music.
A misfire this week. 2 stars.
Monsters At Work "It's Laughter They're After"
My favorite scene is Sulley sitting down with Tylor and reflecting on what happened with Boo in the film, and why scare power is absolutely morally wrong. Even if laugh power WERE somehow making less power for Monsteropolis, it's still the right move to use it. The city used to literally be run on children's tears. The one thing I didn't like about the episode is that it's suggested that's still a possibility (and that there are other "Fear factories" out there).
Mike thinks Roz and Rose are the same person. You know what? So do I.
I have some misgivings about the series, but I definitely would not mind seeing a Season 2. 4 stars.
