Office Space

Spoiler

Me seeing this was long overdue. It answered the question to me of what would happen if Dilbert weren't awful and were actually funny and on-point. You get this fun movie instead of that horrible comic strip.

I see why the movie is so beloved, but as it's the first time I've seen it, I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed how weak the ending is. What I mean is that the central conflict was resolved so easily (and I'll say it: Without flair). Does it feel appropriate that Milton finally burned down the office? Yes. Do I also feel like it's not a good enough solution out of the huge problem Peter had created? No, I don't.

Bill Lumbergh is definitely one of the best screen villains I have ever seen. He is purely loathsome and evil, and yet not a single thing he does is against the law. That's partly what makes him so evil in my mind. His behavior is allowed. Which makes him worse than Hannibal Lecter on some level.

So I enjoyed the movie for the catchphrases, and the humor, and even a bit of the catharsis for Milton he was denied in the cartoons. But I think the narrative itself feels a bit thin. ****.

ThunderCats Ultimates! Wish List: Safari Joe, Turmagar, Tuska Warrior, Topspinner, Ram-Bam, Cruncher, Red-Eye, Tug-Mug, Driller, Ro-Bear Belle, Ro-Bear Bert, Nayda, Mumm-Rana, Dr. Dometone, Stinger, Captain Bragg & Crowman, Astral Moat Monster, Spidera, Snowmeow, Wolfrat.

I won't say that it will make the narrative any stronger but the movie really needs multiple viewings.  Everyone I've ever talked to about the movie says the same thing, it gets funnier every time you watch it.

If you haven't seen it, Idiocracy should be high on your view list (same thing about multiple viewings) and Extract (I've only seen it once and I haven't found anyone else that has seen it so I can't speak to multiple viewings on it... it is very funny but not quite the level of the other two... at least not yet...)

My friend told me to stop quoting the Monkees. I thought she was joking. But then I saw her face.

I will certainly keep that in mind. Idiocracy is on my list too.
