I think most outlets are reporting this as a serious project but it seems to be a full-on project from this "trailer" made years ago...

That's Evan Rachael Wood playing Madonna (just found out that she fronts a Madonna cover band and sings in the movie) and Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento.

This was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and, word has it, it has gotten rave reviews from both the critics and the general audience.
...and while I'm here, Al played Louisville on August 27th. Unfortunately I couldn't get to the show but here are a couple of numbers from it...

Ok, I really shouldn't have been surprised by what I saw, but it was not at all what I was expecting.
Highly recommended if you are fan of Al's work in any format, any genre, or just random humor in general. Clearly this was done as an homage to the "Weird Al" brand more than to the man, and everyone that was involved is excited to be there.

Rainn Wilson as Dr Demento is prime casting
Wilson was offered the part the day before shooting. Patton Oswalt was going to play Demento but broke his foot the day before shooting... Warhol threw me... I knew the face and practically smacked myself when I got to the credits and saw who it was... Never would've guessed Dali... My big take-away is that Madonna never looked that good... 😍
Be sure to stay for the mid-credit scene!

My mistake. It's been out on 4K. It's the preorders for the Blu-Rays and DVDs.
