I know this "room" is for video games, but is anyone else out there a board gamer? If so, what are you playing?

I'd love to get some new recommendations, my gamer group is always on the hunt.

I love board games but I never have anyone to play with, no one's schedule ever lines up with anyone else anymore. That said I have picked up a lot of games at Ollie's over the last year, they always seem to have a decent variety of close-out games at decent prices.  If you've got Bargain Hunt in your area, that's a good place to check, too, but check everywhere as the games don't always end up with the toys.  If your group is into more traditional mass-market games maybe try some of the variants.  I just saw where there's a Jurassic Park/World themed Game of Life coming and I've got a version of Clue called "Lost in Vegas" that has players trying to piece together what happened the night before and who was the last to see their missing friend before they miss the flight home (I've never had the chance to actually play it but the description and new game mechanics sound like fun).  One classic game  I that I've always loved but is out of print is "Awful Green Things from Outer Space".  Fun game if you can find a copy.  Originally published by TSR than by Steve Jackson Games (fans prefer the TSR version, Jackson made some rule changes but I'm not sure what they are).  If you've never played/heard of the game it's very much a comedy game: Imagine the classic Enterprise crew facing off against equally as deadly but not nearly as terrifying Xenomorph Aliens.  I know it's designed for at least 2 players but I don't remember if there were rules for more.

My friend told me to stop quoting the Monkees. I thought she was joking. But then I saw her face.

Thanks for the suggestions. We typically don't play Mass market games or variants anymore but if one is suggested by someone we trust we might give it a shot.

I had heard of "Awful Green Things" before but now I'll need to try and track it down. My Friendly Local Game Store (Millennium Games, highly recommended, they are amazing) is usually good about helping customers track down a request.

Recently I picked up VagrantSong (a lovely ghostbustin' co-op board game where a group of vagrants hop on a ghost train and need to set things right, with art in the style of 1920's/30's animation) and Cosmic Frogs that is just about the trippiest 70's comic book homage I can imagine.

There are a lot of online board game emulators now like Tabletopia, depending on schedule and preference maybe we could set up a meeting and play session there sometime.  Might be a good way for some of us to actually "meet"
