Alien: Romulus

I thought it was good, but I think somebody needs to point out the franchise's actual weakness: All of the Alien films (with the possible exception of Prometheus, although it's debatable) all follow the exact same formula, with NO variation whatsoever. Marvel Movies have gotten shit for the exact same thing, but it's easier to take a stand against over 30 movies repeating themselves, rather than only 7. Still, it's getting old hat at this point.

I think the thing I liked about the movie most was the relationship between Rain and Andy. They had a VERY good arc together, and I hope she fixes him.

The appearance of Rook, same model as Ash, was definitely cause for alarm. Although I kind of don't like that movies can use A.I. to resurrect dead actors. Anybody ask Ian Holm if he would have been okay with this?

It's a solid outing for Alien. But all Alien outings are pretty much all the same at this point. When can we see a new angle? And no, the Alien Human hybrid doesn't count as that for me, as horrific as it is. 3 1/2 stars.
