American Dad! "What Great Advancement!"

I was like "Are they REALLY gonna make an entire silent movie episode?" That part was indeed dreadful. But the idea of Stan first inventing sound and then color was a pretty great hook.

I have mentioned in earlier reviews that Seth MacFarlane threw his voice out a few years ago, and many of his characters, particularly Stan and Roger, sound older and weaker. Well, his voice seems to have healed nicely and Roger and Stan sound normal again. I kept meaning to bring that up in earlier reviews for this season, but since this episode didn't have much else going on, it felt okay to wait for it.

The happy ending is color. It would be weird if it weren't.

Four new seasons coming on Fox! Hooray! 3 stars.

American Dad! "Guardian"

I loved the stuff in the WarGames room, especially the lady giving Jane shade for not looking for her own replacement.

Clever reason for why Guardian couldn't get above 99.

I laughed at the lady Subhub chick wondering excitedly if Hayley wants to make out with her again. Girl gets around.

Steve's frustration at the end with the military guys was great. Also that guy should not be explaining things.

Dick's son beating him up is a super believable facet to that character.

I felt like Jackson had a good role in this episode. While he's explaining fractions, I thought the character had more nuance than usual. He was more than a homophobic joke for the first time.

My only problem with the episode is that Stan is just SO fucking stupid. In an annoying way, rather than a funny one. But at least it led somewhere funny. But that ass always works my LAST nerve.

Good episode though. 3 1/2 stars.
