Dune: Prophecy "The High-Handed Enemy"

God, this is such a fucking UGLY show.

There is a disgusting level of corruption built into the Sisterhood from the ground up. It was rotten from the get-go.

Every Sister BUT Evilia rejected Valya back in the day so she killed all of them. There are no people to root for on this show.

Natalya is the worst mother ever. Emperor Corrino has always been impotent but this is getting ridiculous.

Everything bad that happens is connected to the evil choices Vayla made. I'm glad the Sisterhood found out the truth about her.

It's almost like Desmond and Tula had a nice moment at the end but he has her arrested because the show sucks.

First time we've visited Arrakis at the end. We also perhaps see the origins of fear being the mind-killer.

Me tuning in for Season 2 is questionable at this point. This show is not as gory or perverted as Game Of Thrones. But it's every bit as dour and mean. 1 star.

Dune: Prophecy "In Blood, Truth"

Slog is the Watchword.

Desmond being Tula's son with the Atreides dude she killed makes sense (although we hadn't learned she was pregnant). But... yeah.

My problem with the show is not a single character is heroic or good (or even likable) so there is no-one to root for. I get that's sort of Dune's entire shtick, but that isn't something I personally respond to myself. I'm glad next week is the finale. If we're lucky, it's the series finale rather than the season finale. 2 1/2 stars.

Dune: Prophecy "Twice Born"

The show continues to be a little dry for my tastes but the ending was bananas.

Desmond's big execution scene was pretty horrific too.

I also like the horror of the automatic drawing scene. That got out of control quick.

Both Valya and Tula strike me as pretty unambiguously evil characters, but in fairness I don't see any good characters on the show. 3 stars.

So Tula has a monstrous past. Valya is simply a monster.

I'm betting the Atreides kid Tula spared will turn out to be Desmond.

I didn't hate that. 3 1/2 stars.

Dune: Prophecy "Two Wolves"

Most of it was boring, which probably explains the gratuitous sex and nudity.

I liked Desmond's last scene with Valya at the end. Yeah, the Sisterhood is in trouble.

And I like Lila learning the truth. Even if Tula brings her out of this she will never forgive her or Valya.

I thought it was better than the first episode, but still a bit of a slog. 2 1/2 stars.

Dune: Prophecy "The Hidden Hand"

I was initially going to binge this after the season was over, but I had nothing else to watch last night.

And yeah, it's about as horrible as I thought it would be. Not happy.

I do want to know more about this Great Machine War. And also why it never came up in the movies.

This will be a slog. With British accents. 2 stars.
