Joker has a scary design, but that piano playing in the car was beyond annoying.

As far as TV-MA stuff goes, it's not too bad. It could probably squeak by with a TV-14 (gore included) but I think Max just wants the attention for it.

Not great. 2 1/2 stars.

This is nothing like the Suicide Squad. It's not like I love that premise, but this IS misusing it. Not too thrilled with this so far. 2 1/2 stars.

I love the idiocy of Flag believing he learned the language by imitating prison insults. Because I understand neither language, I presume that gag would be funnier in an English dub, but it still plays, even if EVERYTHING is subtitled, not just the mistranslated insult.

I also love that Ratcatcher hates Deadshot, and Deadshot is dumb enough to believe they are friends. Deadshot is such a clueless asshole, he believes being domineering and cruel is doing the poor guy a favor. I like the idea that assholes often have no idea of how they are truly perceived by the people they mistreat. There's a real-life truth to that idea.

I was okay with this episode. 3 stars.

Clayface can turn into a sword? That's new.

I've noticed this Joker hardly ever laughs. That's a failing.

Harley's mind-battle with the Thinker was pretty good, and her swordfight with Katana was great.

Deadshot never misses? Calling bullshit on that. He missed Katana several times at the end.

Not a bad episode. A little dull, but this show usually is. 3 stars.

The Isekai stuff was pretty melodramatic and arch, which is on-brand for anime, and I also why I rarely watch anime.

For the record, I never got the logic of how the bomb in Clayface's head could possibly work. And if Waller is too stupid to see his way around it, maybe she should find another job. Also this means Rick Flag is super dumb too. While we're keeping score about that kind of thing.

I was a little aggravated. This Amanda Waller is just as evil as all the others. Excepts she twerks, so I somehow hate her even more. 2 1/2 stars.

One of the reasons I don't tend to like superhero projects as anime is because each project tends to forget it's supposed to be about superheroes. The Squad not even being IN the first half of the episode makes me wonder if the creators even know what it's an adaptation of.

The action sequences in the climax were pretty great.

Finally, I need to get something off my chest. I mentioned how much I hate the end title in a previous review, but I have not gotten used to it weeks later. It is exactly as repulsive as the first time I saw it. It makes me REALLY unhappy. The worst part is every episode ends with it, so even if I have a slightly favorable impression of the rest of it, Waller twerking makes me instantly forget it. I don't get it. 3 stars.

I stay away from most anime. I dislike it. Is that fair? No. Might some of it be due to cultural bias? Sadly, probably yes. But I have seen more than a few anime, and I can count the number of projects I've actually liked on one hand with enough left over to give you a thumbs up and flip you off.

The problem for me is that anime has some extremely problematic tropes. It's not necessarily harmful in and of itself (although the schoolgirl / tentacle fetish shit is fucking WEIRD) but my problem is how repetitive everything is. For anime like this, if you've seen one, you've seen them all. Is Miyazaki amazing? Yes. But if the two brands of anime are Miyazaki and crap, that's a fucking problem.

This finale fed into every bad cliche about anime I already believed. And some of those things I believed are probably untrue and could be debunked by an actual fan. But this damn episode proves me right instead which is annoying and unnecessary. Annoying and unnecessary describe this entire franchise and setting.

Usually when a show I watch ends a season on a cliffhanger, even if I don't like it, I get pissed if it's canceled and unresolved. This is the first project in a long while, good or bad, where I simply don't care. Cancel it or bring it back. Me and popular culture won't be better or worse off either way. The entire show is totally unnecessary and exists for no good actual reason.

I would call that a massive disappointment if it didn't actually feed into biases I already believed. I half-expected the anime to end this poorly. It sure as fuck did NOT need it to prove me right. That's not the needed lesson here. What a trainwreck. 1 star.
