So, yeah, just like the title says.

Hasbro has been putting more and more of their 6" action figures in boxes without windows. How does everyone feel about this?

While I like they are moving away from non-recycled materials and have more environmentally aware packaging, there are some drawbacks to this in my opinion.

If you are an in-package collector that likes to display, does this impact your display?

Since you don't get to actually see the figure, only photos on the front panel, does it impact your decision to buy a figure since you can't see the paint apps or if there is damage to the figure?

Would you rather they still had windows without the plastic film a la some of the Imaginext vehicle packs?

Will this lead to the eventual death of the blister card?

I'd love to know what you guys think.

I think that they'll be going back to windowed packaging fairly soon as it looks to have really put a slow-down on sales at the brick-and-mortars.  The packaging completely ignores the MOC/MIB collector, the "actual product may vary" disclaimer that accompanies most toy photos now allows for a total crap-shoot as to what you might find when you open the package and then there are the figure swappers who seem to be having a field day with the closed boxes (just saw an unboxing on YouTube with what was supposed to be a fresh-from-Amazon box for a Marvel Legends Everett Ross that was opened and had a DCUC Shark figure in it, seen many others with WWE figures and 5" Toy Biz as replacements).  Hasbro did say that the plastic-free program would not include collector product where the packaging was part of the presentation, ie Star Wars Vintage Collection and Marvel retro cards.  I could see all collector focused lines switching to those formats.  If they want to keep the boxes, do away with the window/inner tray configuration.  Have an open window box with a single blister that holds down the figure and accessories sealed directly to the cardboard.  Or go back to what they were doing a few years ago with Marvel Legends and Ghostbusters where the "window" was a lid that sat over the inner tray instead of being glued to the box making it easier to separate for recycle.

My friend told me to stop quoting the Monkees. I thought she was joking. But then I saw her face.

Because of the figure swappers I won't buy toys that way. They ruin everything.

Apparently enough people have spoken and this style of packaging is going away for "collector lines" soon.

I'm glad to see Hasbro found a solution that was both environmentally aware and in meeting the demands of the consumers.
